Casa Milà |
Ufff.. We're more than week here and last few days were so busy, apart from work we were doing a lot of other things like sightseeing!
I love the life in Spain. It's like a neverending fairytale.. Can you image that everytime I'm going to work or on the beach I see a green parrots flying everywhere? In Poland sparrows and pigeons aren't so nice to watching. People here are much different. They seems to be more chill and nice. It may be weird what I'm going to write but they seem to be much smaller than us. In the tube me and J. are usually the tallest people in the whole car. We have also much bigger feet and hands. You can meet here more and more turists-the summer is coming- and a lot of Asians.
Citizens are saying that the weather is the worst they could remember. And even though for us it is warm and nice, we all expecting the sunny, hot weather with a gentle breeze. Yesterday we were sunbathing and went to the beach but today we're gonna watch a spanish movie, because there's no sun.
The supermarkets are closed on Sundays. Weird-but don't worry, we're not starving. (Yet..)
As I said we were sightseeing. The first part of our plan was Plaça de Catalunya, Passeig de Gràcia i Placa de la Universitat.
On the street, which name is Passeig de Gràcia every architecture freak will find something which
makes his/her heart beating much faster. Ladies and Gentelmen I present Gaudi's buildings. There are two: Casa Batlló - the building located at 43 Passeig de Gràcia, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site and Casa Milà (La Pedrera). What's interesting one of the scenes in the movie Professione directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, was filmed on the roof of the building. Eoin Colfer building recalls in his book, Fri Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony. Many scenes from the movies was filmed in front of Casa Milà.

Plaça de la Universitat, a break for coffee and see where we are exactly and Plaça de Catalunya |
Passeig de Gràcia - one of the major streets in Barcelona, called as Camí de Jesús ("Jesus Road") too.
As you see there are a lot of shops on the street. More: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passeig_de_Gr%C3%A0cia,_Barcelona |
Then on the end of the street we saw Plaça de Catalunya. It was a great view! A big fountain and a lots of people and of course colorful flowers. Plaça de Catalunya is a square in the center of Barcelona, on the borders of the Gothic Quarter, Raval, Ciutat Vella, Eixample. This is also an important junction station, buses and a point the confluence of several major streets and arcades of the city.
I have never heard about it before so I need to share with you!
I saw it on TV few days earlier and it is so funny, but it's so true that this is one of the catalonian's traditions. It's a human tower.
There was a Catalonia Day in our city in Poland and they have tried it too! Great:)
See you next time, I have a lot of plans for next posts.
Ciao ;)
